Tips for getting gigs!

A lot of bands fall at the first hurdle when applying for a gig! Don't let yours do the same!

Make sure you:

Tell me where your band are based.

I book for Birmingham, Kings Heath and Wolverhampton venues, so a Brum band would be more suitable for a Brum venue, and a Wolves band for a Wolves venue. Don't worry if you're not from The Midlands - but please include where you are from. It's harder for out of town bands to get gigs in The Midlands - especially at circuit venues, but I DO put out of town bands on!

Tell me the type of band you are.

Do you play - indie/rock/metal/post-hardcore/rap/pop-punk/pop-rock?? It really helps me when booking to know the genre of bands, especially if I've had a band drop-out of a gig and I need a quick replacement!

Give me a brief history of the band.

Anything exciting happened so far? Supported any big names? Tell me!! Sell Sell Sell!! There are hundreds of bands waiting to play an Emma Scott Presents gig so you need to make your band sound really exciting in your application!

Your links.

So important, yet so many bands don't give me their social media sites - so I can't hear them! Tell me all your sites! If I can't hear you, I can't book you! Make it easy for me!

Make sure you fill the email address in correctly.

Some bands mis-type their contact details, making it impossible for me to get in touch and offer a gig! Check and double-check you have typed your email address and band website links properly!

Make sure you check your emails regularly and reply quickly if a promoter gets in touch!

I have lost count of the bands I have offered gigs to, that reply 2 weeks later. By then the gig has GONE to another band who check their emails and reply quickly! Don't miss out!

Remember, applying for a gig is like applying for a job. Make sure you include everything a promoter needs to know.

Make it simple for us - we're very busy people!!

Good luck!

Emma Scott xx
