A lot of bands ask me how they can get involved in the promotion of their gigs, and from my recent Break your Band seminar, I received great feedback from my presentation on "Tips for Selling Tickets" - so here goes!
No one wants to play in front of 2 people - and every band on the bill has to do their bit...so here goes:-
Got the gig - now what??
1) Tell everyone! Announce on all of your social media sites. If you're enthusiastic about your gigs, other people will be!
2) Try and get some local press coverage. Write a mini press release and send to you local paper.
3) Set up a Facebook event and invite your friends. (or look in the Emma Scott Presents Group page and invite via that!)
4) Add your gig to local gig listing sites. Brum Live, Midlands Rocks, Midlands Music Maniacs, Electric Banana etc.
5) Send your CD to radio stations for airplay - make sure you include the gig dates in your press pack for the presenter to mention.
6) Upload the flyer to the gig on your sites and if there are physical flyers - ask for some to hand out to help spread the word.
7) Don't book other gigs in the same area 2 weeks either side of your gig. This will affect ticket sales. One gig per month in the same town is plenty!
8) Sell your ticket allocation. If you do well you WILL get booked again!
